Charitable Contributions – Helping Our Community Make Lives Better

At Ecologic Furniture, we strive to provide four important qualities to our customers: sustainability, durability, affordability, and great service. In addition to providing superior products and services for large and small universities and student housing facilities, we also prioritize helping those in need. Our mission is to not only provide the best furniture to our customers, but also to take time out from our daily business activities to improve the lives of those around us.
We believe that giving back to the community is a direct reflection on how we operate as a company. Basic necessities such as furniture can be expensive and difficult (or impossible) for some non-profits to purchase. It’s in these situations that we often check our inventory to see what we can do to help. We take pride in being actively involved with our community and donating furniture to help organizations like Ronald McDonald House, local shelters, and other charitable groups create comfortable environments for their guests.

A Few Ways We Are Able to Help

Our furniture is built to withstand wear and tear experienced in demanding student living facilities – a quality that’s equally valuable in other high traffic environments. A donation could be as simple as providing a chair to a charity or offering volunteers to help raise awareness for an important cause. We often have extras as our collections change from year to year and encourage local charities to contact us about meeting their specific needs. Donations can include the following furniture items:

  • Tables
  • Desks
  • Mattresses
  • Lounge Items

The first step for any charitable donation is to contact us to explain your needs and discuss ways our company can help. We encourage charities, assisted living environments, community event coordinators, and others supporting a cause to ask about a charitable contribution. By doing so, we can check our stock to provide one or multiple items for the cause. We can also volunteer for events and supply other types of donations as well. Whether you need furniture donations or just a little bit of our time, the team at Ecologic Furniture is ready for action!

Early 2017, the Housing Program at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, sought for a handful of quotes from different furniture suppliers and manufacturers. Our student residences needed a facelift and these quotes would be the first step towards budgeting and eventually realizing an ambitious project. Just a few months later, Hurricane Maria wrecked the better part of our island, including our Campus.

As soon as telecommunications started to be restored, I was able to read an e-mail sent by one of the companies we had contacted. Ecologic Furniture found out we had been hit hard and contacted us to see how we were doing and, more importantly, how they could be of any help. At this point, our hopes for a refurbishing project had inevitably been postponed as restoring our infrastructure assumed priority. Nonetheless, storm winds pushed water…

new beds, mattresses and futons for our students. The impact of a life-altering natural disaster is impossible to calculate but it is in these difficult times that a helping hand can go a long way. We have received help from those who rise to the occasion and show uninterested solidarity.

●  Redevelopment, of 866 units of affordable rental housing

●  22,018 wellness-checks on 6,807 residents
●  More than 25,500 food delivery and/or meals for more than 5,300 residents
●  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) delivery to 3,760 households
●  Procurement and delivery of educational supplies for 549 school age children
●  Internet connectivity assistance provided to households in need, including 62 seniors
●  462 residents received or increased WIC assistance
●  Provided energy/utility assistance to 514 residents
●  Assisted 599 residents with unemployment support
